About Anna Claire

After just over 2 years of waiting we received “the call”.

On June 16th 2008 Lauren from AWAA called I was at work and had left my cell phone in my purse so she actually talked to Mark (the day after Father’s Day). My husband then called me at work when he said our agency called and had a 2 year old little girl with a heart defect—would we be interested in looking at her file. I couldn’t breathe how could this be? We had been waiting for over 2 years and only 10 days after putting our names on the special needs list we get this call. I couldn’t speak, Mark said are you there? When I was able to utter a few words he said it’s a good thing she spoke with me because she would have thought you had been disconnected. I saw her picture on the computer all I could think is she is beautiful. Everyone at work was so excited for us and was so gracious to let me leave for the day.

I arrived home and called Lauren back within an hour, but we were too late another family had taken her file. Lauren explained that it would be unlikely that her file would become available again (maybe a 30% chance). The other family would have 48 hours to review the file and move forward or decide no to adopt this little girl. What a rollercoaster of emotions. I took comfort in the fact that God had the perfect family for this child and He knew what was best for her. The 48 hour window passed and no phone call so we decided we were not to be her family.

Then on June19th I was at home when the phone rang—it was our agency this is what I heard “you are never going to believe this her file is available again”. We “locked her file down” and God began to open doors to bring our daughter home.
