Sweet Sophie Mei          Back

“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” -Mulan

What’s in a name?
I have known for a very long time that our daughter from China would be named Sophie. We have discussed other names but always come back to Sophie. We have chosen Mei (pronounced May) as her middle name. In Chinese, mei means “beautiful” or “little sister”. We like to combine them to mean “beautiful, little sister”. As all of our children have middle names of a special family member or ancestor, Sophie will share “Mei” with her maternal great-great grandmother, Rachel Mae.
