OUR LAST DAY IN CHINA …

“Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.” ~Mother Teresa

This is it…our last post from China ! Our bags are just about packed and our guide will be here in the morning to take us to the airport. I know it will be a LONG, LONG day with who-knows-how-long on the plane…I haven’t even dared to figure it out : ), but we are SO EXCITED to be on our way home! Our time in China really has been absolutely amazing! We have loved every part of it! I think I had prepared myself and expected a very difficult transition with Sophie. Every time something went better than I had thought it would, it was such a pleasant surprise! She has done so well considering all the changes she has experienced the past ten days or so. She is just the sweetest thing, and we feel truly blessed to have her as our daughter and little sister.

A BIG THANK YOU to those of you who have offered support and encouragement to us on this very long journey to our little girl. We have appreciated it so much. It has been a highlight each day to read the emails and guestbook entries that we have received while in China ! If you have been following along, we would still love for you to leave a message in our guestbook as they will be saved for Sophie to have as a keepsake when she is older.

A special THANK YOU to my mom who has been an unwavering support and strength to us throughout this process and always! We will never be able to thank her enough for her willingness to step in and stay with our kiddos for two and a half weeks! Before we left for China, I told the kids that I was certain that grandma would take much better care of them than I do : ) Nathan assured me of that this week when he told me on the phone that grandma has made dessert for them every single night that we’ve been gone. They have been spoiled! She is the only person I know who can have the laundry done (and put away), the house cleaned and dinner made before anyone else in the house is awake. Thank you mom! We love you! And to my sister, Tiffany, who has become the official homework specialist while we’ve been away, a very sincere heartfelt thank you! I know I owe you big : ) And to every single person who has helped while we been gone…thank you so much! It is sincerely appreciated.

We have met so many wonderful people as we have woven our way into this world of international adoption. I have learned so much from so many of you. Thank you for sharing your stories. The road has been long and somewhat discouraging at times…but, oh, so worth it. To those families still waiting, I would offer you hope. If any of you have questions about our experience adopting through the waiting child program, please feel free to email me. I would be happy to share!

To Jessie, Nathan, Christian and Michael…we have missed you! We love you all and are so excited for you to meet your new little sister!

Our journey to Sophie is almost over, but our journey with Sophie is just beginning! I can’t wait!
