Saturday, January 12, 2013 Today was the day for our Great Wall Adventure. It started out very, very foggy, and we were afraid it might not be a good day for viewing the scenery, or even worse, the road to the Wall may be closed. It all turned out OK, and it was our sunniest, prettiest day yet! The Great Wall is amazing. We went to the part at Mutianyu. It is a little further from Beijing, but less touristy. We took a chair lift up to the top, then walked around. As usual, Camille found a patch of ice, and had much more fun sliding on it, than enjoying the panoramic views. The girls also decided it was time for a snow ball fight! We returned to Beijing in the later afternoon, and met up with friends of our friends, the Gammages. Guo Hui, her husband, and their daughter, Diandian, took us to dinner at a lovely restaurant. It was built from an old house in Jiangxi province, then moved to Beijing. The food and friendship was wonderful. The girls loved Diandian, and we hope to see her again when she attends college in the US this fall. We then returned to pack up our winter things, to get ready for our flight to GZ tomorrow.
